Egyptian Papyrus Paintings

It is believed that papyrus was first used about 4000BC, and became one of Egypt's major exports. Egyptian rulers made its production a guarded secret. There was no competition to papyrus until the Chinese invented paper in 105AD. With the introduction of paper making into Egypt, the production of papyrus rapidly declined and stopped. It was not until 1965 when an Egyptian scientist discovered the old lost secret of papyrus making. Once again hand-making of papyrus sheets became an important Egyptian craft and the Egyptian artists found the material perfect for recording the marvelous paintings of the ancient Pharaohs.

These painted papyrus sheets are considered as precious and valuable antiques. You can own these and use them as decorations in your home or give them as a precious gifts.
